At the beginning of May, I had the pleasure of appearing on Kanazawa Seaside FM’s program “Tell Us About Your Company.”
During the interview, I shared about the work we do at This is Me — our speech and presentation coaching programs, as well as our original methodology called Body Speech.
Today, I’d like to expand on some of the ideas we discussed on air and share the philosophy behind our work.
People Are Not Moved by Words Alone
For entrepreneurs and leaders, the ability to communicate is essential in many situations:
- Presentations
- Internal company speeches
- Recruiting
- Business negotiations
- Investor pitches
- Team leadership
Many people focus on improving their words:
“I need to explain things more logically.”
“I need to speak more clearly.”
And of course, language matters.
But in reality, people are not only listening to words.
They are unconsciously sensing much more through nonverbal communication, such as:
- Facial expressions
- Posture
- Eye contact
- Tone of voice
- Breathing
- Timing and pauses
- Overall presence and energy
This is why situations like these happen:
“The content was correct, but somehow it didn’t land.”
“I explained everything, but people still weren’t moved.”
What Is Body Speech?
At This is Me, we use our original program called Body Speech, a communication methodology rooted in actor training and nonverbal expression.
Before becoming a coach, I spent many years as a stage actor, performing in more than 80 productions, including international performances.
Through those experiences, I came to deeply understand one thing:
The body reveals the truth of the person.
No matter how polished the words may be, the body reflects what is happening internally.
That is why our work focuses not simply on “how to speak,” but on creating:
A state that truly communicates

Beyond Technique: Aligning the Inner State
Body Speech is not about teaching superficial techniques.
The first step is helping a person align their internal state.
Because people respond less to what someone says, and more to the state from which they are speaking.
For example:
- Shallow breathing caused by tension
- Insecurity showing through the body
- A disconnect between words and true feelings
These signals are often communicated more strongly than language itself.
On the other hand, when the body, emotions, and words are aligned, even simple language can carry tremendous impact and presence.
This alignment is what we call:
“A communicative state”
What Leaders Need Today Is Presence
oday, many of our clients include:
- Entrepreneurs preparing for international speaking engagements
- Professionals presenting at global conferences
- Leaders managing organizations and teams
Especially in the age of AI and social media, the value of information alone is rapidly decreasing.
What matters now is:
“Who is speaking.”
Knowledge alone is no longer enough.
People are drawn to authenticity, presence, trust, and emotional clarity.
Through our sessions, clients often experience changes such as:
- Greater presentation impact
- Stronger leadership presence
- Deeper trust within teams
- More authentic self-expression
- Increased confidence and action-taking
Some even tell us they felt a profound shift after just one 90-minute session.
One-to-One and One-to-Many Communication Are the Same at Their Core
As I shared during the radio interview, I believe that:
One-to-one communication and public speaking are fundamentally the same.
If you cannot truly move one person in front of you, it becomes even harder to move a crowd.
That is why Body Speech is not limited to presentations or speeches.
It can also transform:
- Leadership conversations
- Personal relationships
- Education
- Everyday communication
Because at its core, communication is always about human connection.
Through this radio experience, I was reminded once again that:
People are transformed through people.
And what creates that transformation is not words alone.
It is the integration of:
- Body
- Emotion
- Presence
Only when these nonverbal elements are aligned can true communication occur.
At This is Me, we will continue exploring communication that creates authentic human connection.
My sincere thanks to everyone at Kanazawa Seaside FM for this wonderful opportunity.
