India Speaking Engagement Report : What Future Leaders Taught Me〜Beyond “Learn-it-all”〜

In September 2025, during my presentation at the World Economic Forum event in India, I received numerous messages on social media from the Indian university students who attended. They had searched for me online to connect.

Student Testimonials:

  • “I’ll miss you ma’am. Please revisit us again🥰🥺🥹”
  • “Your rooted and humble message truly made my day!”
  • “It was such a joy meeting you and feeling your positive energy throughout the event.”

I was deeply touched by the sincerity of their feelings. The message that particularly stood out to me was this one:

  • “I’m impressed by your gracious, down-to-earth nature, humility, politeness, and discipline – truly inspiring!”

I was overjoyed that the students didn’t just understand the words I spoke, but also perceived something from my “presence itself.” Despite the presentation being held on a weekend, 600-700 students gathered to attend.

As mentioned in Report ③, I began my speech by referencing a powerful quote from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella “The future of leadership belongs to the learn-it-all, not the know-it-all.”
The “know-it-all” mindset—characterized by intellectual arrogance and a resistance to new ideas—stands in stark contrast to the continuous learning and humility required for true leadership.

This philosophy connects directly to the core concept of my Body Speech methodology: “Shin-Ku-I Ichi (Unity of Mind, Mouth, and Body) = Coherence.”

“Coherence” refers to a state where one’s mind (thought), body (action), and intention are completely aligned.

The students’ feedback reinforced my conviction. They responded not merely to the superficial meaning of my words, but to the “coherence” I strived to embody. The fact that they recognized “humility” and “politeness”—values deeply rooted in Japanese culture—demonstrates that our core spirit can successfully transcend borders.

Following the event, one student’s post even articulated the very essence of Body Speech: “Coherence is contagious – your state becomes their state.”

It is often said that Japan is losing its former vitality. Perhaps this is because we have forgotten the spirit of the “learn-it-all” and settled into a “know-it-all” complacency.

Encountering the coexistence of “passion” and “humility” in India’s next-generation leaders provided a significant hint for re-examining leadership in Japan.

True leadership isn’t about decorating words; it’s about conveying a message through one’s life itself, through one’s very presence. And that message reliably crosses borders and generations.

“Speak to move the world, not just with words, but with presence.”

If you are currently facing challenges in communication within your organization, team, or in developing the next generation of leaders, why not develop this “power of presence = Body Speech” with us?
