Are you living as the protagonist of your own life?

On Wednesday, July 9th, at an education festival where I spoke, I asked the participants this very question.

Even though the event was live-streamed, I could feel the energy shift through the screen. The comment section flooded with responses like, “This is my story exactly,” and “That was a real wake-up call.” It was clear that this question resonated deeply, prompting a moment of sincere self-reflection for so many.

This question is the cornerstone of my work, and it’s a theme I have explored deeply through my own experience as an actor and performer.

True “expressiveness” isn’t just about speaking eloquently or presenting well. It is the very depth of your self-awareness.

When we play a role on stage, we delve deep into what the character wants (Want), what they can do (Can), and what they are expected to do (Need). Without grasping the character’s “Will”—their ultimate purpose—we can never deliver an authentic performance that moves the audience.

This is exactly the same in our own lives.

Day after day, we try to meet the expectations of what we “should” do (Need), as defined by society, our organizations, or our families. We leverage what we “can” do (Can) to perform that role to the best of our ability.

But in the process, do we lose touch with the voice of what we truly “want” to do (Want)?

Before we know it, we become supporting characters in someone else’s script and forget that we are the protagonists of our own. I know that many of you must feel this sense of suffocation.

To live as a “protagonist” means to find your “Will” and then write and perform your own life’s script accordingly. Only then does the outline of who you truly are come into sharp focus. I call this process “Shuyaku Kaika”—the moment you unlock your inner protagonist.

At the festival, time constraints meant I could only touch upon the entrance to this “Shuyaku Kaika” journey.
However, the message resonated with so many people, both in Japan and internationally, far beyond my expectations. This, I believe, is proof that everyone, deep down, yearns to shine as the protagonist of their own life.

That is why I have created a special opportunity to explore this journey more deeply and practically.

[Invitation to a Free Introductory Seminar]

“Live Your True Self: Unlock Your Inner Protagonist”
Monday, July 28th, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM (JST) on Zoom

In this seminar, we will explore the concrete steps you can take to shine as the protagonist of your life. We will cover:

  • A workshop to organize your “Can, Want, Need” and articulate your personal “Will.”
  • Methods to break free from the script of others’ expectations and create your own story.
  • Techniques to unleash your expressive power as a protagonist and inspire those around you.

This is not a passive lecture.
It is a 2.5-hour interactive experience where, through dialogue with me and with like-minded peers, you will take a powerful first step toward living your true self.

If you’ve ever felt, “Is this really the life I’m meant to be living?”
If you have a quiet desire, deep in your heart, to shine more brightly as yourself…

Then I invite you to join me.
I sincerely look forward to supporting you at that very moment when you unlock the protagonist within.
